Headliner installation/parts(74 Omega)

Does the headliner in the Olds Omega require bows? Im not totally sure and havent been able to hunt down a straight answer. If anyone has a picture of complete interior, it would be appreciated. Need help

Yes, it uses bows. The 1974 Omega headliner is the same as that used in the 1968-1974 Nova, so parts should be readily available. Diagrams are in the 1974 Fisher Body Manual, readily available on ebay.

Joe's usually right, and probably is here, too. I never had an Omega. But I had a 1973 Nova SS (new) and a 1974 GTO (Ventura). Both those cars had a hard headliner covered with perforated material, no bows.

In that case, I apologize. I didn't think GM went to the hard shell headliners until the body style change in 1975. Sorry for the mis-information. In any case, get the FBM for details.

I think they may have started that in 1973. It is like a large 1 piece panel of thin composition board. The material was also 1 large piece, no seams. It was perforated with a thin foam backing and glued to the comp board. The foam allowed you to glue it w/o glue oozing from the holes. Over the years the foam would let go and the stuff would hang down, so peeps ripped it out. Most of the boards are warped now. The GTO I replaced with a vinyl. I'm pretty sure once the board is out, you can use a bowed, early headliner.

I don't think it's specific material, I'm not positive. It looks like they sell the whole deal now, board with material on it like original, every color of the rainbow. If it's black, you should be ok ordering a Nova deal. If it's colored, I would get a sample. Google 1973 Nova headliner..........
