Got the dash taken out
Dash is out and now I am going to prep the metal for repaint. I have some vacuuming to do in here too.
I also replaced the dash face with a used unit it's not perfect but will work for now, it's nice not to look at the huge hole the previous owner put in the old one to install a tach. Then he preceeded to mount the ignition switch in the cigarette lighter hole. Was making me crazy.
I am putting the original radio back in its place and going to mount the aftermarket one elsewhere.

Looking good. Here's a link to an idea for mounting the new stereo....(insert shameless plug here)....

Hey Randy, feel free to throw those shameless plugs on any of my posts.
Your product looks great! I may be letting you know, trust me your consoles come to mind everytime I am thinking about where to mount my gauges and stereo.

Are you going to rebuild the steering wheel? I believe Eastwood has a kit to help do that. I remember those wheels. They split on the rims and also on the top of the cross pieces where the horn buttons are. Dad put some epoxy on it to hold it together, but it looked like crap. Nice project you have going there. Did you do the paint and brightwork on the replacement dash yourself? Looks good. BTW, are you missing the WW **** or is it hiding somewhere.
Oh, your compressor thinks it's a cat. Tell it to get off the table and back on the floor...

There were so many things bothering me about the car so believe it or not, the steering wheel was the least of my worries. Steering wheel has definitely seen better days though. I really like the 3 spoke sport steering wheels though, I will check into the Eastwood kit as well. Thanks for the tip!
No I didn't do the work on the dash, the borders are actually gray primer I think. I am happy with it and didnt want to mess it up trying to make it perfect.
Yeah, I do have the WW switch. It was the first thing I removed lastnight that's what set me into motion to pull the whole dash.

Thank you.
Looks like you're deep into it there. Fun times.
Give me a hollar when you're ready. We can work together to come up with a custom console to house a stereo and gauges or just about anything else you have in mind.
That grey primered area of the dash plastic would look cool painted either the color of the car or the color of the interior in a high gloss.
