CS Dash plastic chrome trim, question.

I think my 71 CS may have had the plastic chrome trim bead that goes around the edge of the dash.
My previous 70 had the trim and I seem to remember, it was attached to the dash by plastic clips that poked into the dash pad (just from my old memory). Over time the plastic trim shrunk and would not stay in place.
Fast forward to present day. I have a 1971 CS, it does not have the chrome trim bead. It does seem to have some remains of glue around the edge where the bead use to be installed. I am thinking about replacing the plastic chrome trim bead.

Questions:
Is the information about the mounting above correct?
My 71 does not have any Holes in the dash pad, it has some faint glue marks. Does this mean my 71CS never had the trim bead?
Has anyone tried the a reproduction chrome trim?
Is there a better source for this part

I have an aftermarket trim on my 71. As far as I can tell it was just as good as the original. My original and the replacement both attached with the clips. My thought is to use the clips instead of glueing it on - use a pointed tool to make holes in the appropriate locations.

If you don't want to make the holes, I used some 3m double stick chrome half round 1/8" bead from advanced auto.....installed it looks very similar to the original and was about $15 for the package....there is enough to do two dashes in the package.....I'll try to get a pic later

 

I used the repro chrome dash trim. I have a 70 and did not want to put the holes in the dash. I used this stuff. I wiped the trim and dash down with alcohol and applied the tape to the trim. It has been on tight for a long time now and looks great.

I also used the 3-M 1/2 round chrome bead. Just Dashes told me about it and it worked out fine. It's been on for over 3 years now and will bend around the curves without a problem. I thought it was 1/4" though.

 

Thank you for all of your suggestions. I am inclined to use the two-sided tap option and avoid the holes in the dash. Ill also research both options for bead, half round and the Repo.
Big car show in Massachusetts in a few weeks. This year I hope to move up a few slots in the original category. Maybe ill see some of you.
