Attaching the dash bead on a 70 442 W30
Attaching the dash bead on a 70 442 W30
I have the above and need to attach it to the dash without the clips found in later year cars. I can't bring myself to putting holes in a perfect dash. Any good ideas on an adhesive to use?
Thanks

1970s did not use the punch in clips and did use an adhesive. I'm sure someone will recommend something from 3M or similar. I will also need to do this to my '70 SX as the old adhesive is shot on the bead.

The original 70 bead was solid and glued on a little easier because the slit was not there to reduce the surface area for the glue to hold. I looked and fought this for a long time on the W-30 I built and ended up having to poke the holes. The only thing I could come up with was to fill the bead with some kind of flexible filler and sand the back side flat for that extra surface area. I decided not to try it thinking I would end up messing up the molding and it still not hold. There is a reason it was one year only. In the end I think you will have to poke the holes also.
I ended up selling the car but I am sure it is still holding. Those little clips are tough and hold tight.
