70-72 Cutlass Dashboard. Woodgrain & Chrome Trim or not?
70-72 Cutlass Dashboard. Woodgrain & Chrome Trim or not?
The question just came up in a Facebook post about which cars had dashboard woodgrain and the chrome bead on the dash pad. Since I answered the question there, I figured I'd also add the info here so it would be easy for anyone to google and find if curious.
Throughout 1970 to 1972, the dashboard woodgrain and chrome trim was an available option on the models that it did not come included on as standard equipment. Although it was rarely purchased, in 1970 and 71 the option was purchased and included on less than 8% of the models that could have ordered it. In 1972 the number of cars receiving it was less than 5%. It was option BC1 and consisted of the "Woodgrain AND Vinyl dash trim" and had a list price of $10.53 in 1970 and 1971. Ironically in 1972 the price was lowered to a cost $10.00. In 1970 and 1971, it was standard on all Cutlass Supremes and 442's. It was optional on all F-85, Cutlass, and Cutlass S cars. In 1972, since there were no more 442 models, it was standard only on Cutlass Supremes. It was optional on all other intermediates. Throughout all of 1970 thru 1972, it was standard and included on all Vista Cruisers. It's only Rocket Science.
