'68 wood wheel horn button
Mine's black, but I have a black interior, column and dash. Looking around the web for pictures, I've seen them both ways (non-black interior w/ black horn button and w/ color-matched horn button). I suspect that color-matched is factory correct.
Unfortunately most of the cars you see on the web have had options added during the "restoration", so they are not reliable indications of what was done by the factory. On the other hand, the Product Information Manual tells you exactly what parts were used on the assembly line, and for the horn button that information is on Page 113 of Section 9. There were six different color horn button pads for the three spoke sport wheel, black, dark blue, dark gold, dark red, dark turquoise, and dark teal. By the way the steering wheel hub is called out on Page 117 of Section 9 and not surprisingly the same six colors were used.
Thanks, Joe. I do not have the '68 PIM, I was inquiring for my buddy, who has a Jade Green '68 442 with the Ivy Gold interior. I gave him a wheel that I aquired from Chris Witt several years ago. I will assume that the dark gold would be correct for his car, and I will pass that info on to him.
