67 cutlass rear seats

Hey guys, rebuilding rear seats for my 67 C/S. Has anyone tried to re-use the wiring that was embedded into the burlap for the seat bottom? The term listing wire- does it require a certain thickness wire ? thanks Brian

I have reused the wire if it is in good shape. My 67 conv. rear seats had been remade at some point, and they sewed some piping on the ends instead of a wire. When I recovered them I used old brazing rod (cleaned off the flux) and it worked perfectly.

Seat-Guy ;-)

I toss them in 99% of the cases- unless they are absolutely mint- they can get really brittle and snap, and I have seen them get shoved up through the upholstery on a couple occasions- so its not worth the risk for me to put them back in...

I put new burlap down over the springs w/ a jute decking pad ontop of that (GM used a similar setup in most years).
