My console top plate is badly pitted and worn. I notice there is a repro replacement offered. Has anyone purchased this and comment on quality and accuracy. It appears olds rocket emblem must be swapped over and i noticed my original plate is chrome in the center where shifter is, but repro looks black. thanks

The one on my '69 was pitted as well, especially in the center where the shifter is, and I had it re-chromed - it came out pretty good - still kind of rough in that center part, though. I was able to remove the rocket emblem and then re-install it when the top plate came back. As far as the center being black, it is supposed to be as it matches the plastic slide for the automatic shifter. I painted mine semi-flat black and it came out real nice - matched the plastic slide real close.
