1953 Olds interior door release lever removal

Hi. Hopefully someone can help me figure this out. How does one remove the interior door release lever? A previous owner has removed them at some point and reatached with the lever pointing toward the small vent window crank. Now they hit when you try to open the small vent. I'd like to remove the door lever and put back to the original angle but dont see a locking nut as a way to remove. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Lee

tool to remove the handle

you need this tool > http://www.tooltopia.com/_img/KDT/KDT431.jpg

to remove the horseshoe clip slide the tool next to the handle and push it off
then reposition the handle

if the clips on the wrong way go at it from the other direction
