My '83 H/O

My '83 H/O
I never started a thread of my own since I posted my introduction a few weeks back....
I picked up my '83 H/O a little over a month ago from a co-worker. It had been sitting in his backyard since 1999 after he got hit. (left front fender) Got it towed home and started hunting down parts...
Anyhow, here is a pic rundown... the day of delivery.. Then after her first bath.

I have also got the engine running. The 307 is supposedly low miles since being rebuilt. Sounds healthy! Has a great exhaust note.
I have the stock rallys cleaned and polished. I'm waiting on a set of tires to get shipped to put those on... my plan for now is to freshen her up to driver quality... get the fender installed an re-paint the black on the entire car.
Here are a few more items that I've found:
rally gauge cluster (the ones in the car not working)
"Hurst/Olds 15th Anniversary" decals
Lightning rod shifter 'warning' label
Still hunting for:
1983 grilles
RH tail light
I will post on this thread as I progress... JC62

I love the '83 Hurst/Olds! Many people forget what a dark time it was in the American auto industry and what a ray of hope the '83 Hurst was, along with the Monte Carlo SS and the Grand National (and eventually, the 442). Even though they weren't 13 second bruisers, they were pretty cool in a parking lot full of Chevettes, Citations, Escorts, and Omnis. Nice save!!!

Got a few 'new' parts on.. a few steps closer to getting back on the road.
Fender..
Tail light..
Grilles...
Waiting on a set of tires to put back on the stock rally's and also searching for a front bumper.

Nice improvements! The dash is the same on those cars from 1981 - 1987 so there should be plenty of donors if you plan to replace it. Any color will work if it's in good shape because the dash can be painted with SEM products to the original red color. Check local upholstery shops, they may be able to replace the damaged drivers seat panels.

I can't seem to find a front bumper anywhere around here. Plan B, borrow a come-along. I got it pretty close but I need to pull it out about another inch or so. It was close enough for me to put the ground effects and chin spoiler on. Looks a little more complete.

There was a thread on here last week about a graveyard of 84 HO's. Maybe give the OP on this thread a PM and ask if his buddy knows where that is.

That's in the plans. I'm thinking dealer add-on. I've only seen one other H/O on internet pics that had them. Unfortunately they are screwed on there... they are coming off soon.

If they're screwed on, they won't be dealer add ons. Dealers used ones with adhesive backing. Too bad, now you'll also have to weld them up and repaint. Oh well, just another step in the direction of a perfect looking car

Dealers in fact drilled and rived the body side moldings on most '83 and '84 H/O's.

The trim is off. Tiny philips head screws were used. The holes will be easy to cover. The adhesive was dried and not sticky anymore. They came right off. I'll snap a pic soon.

I've done a few things over the last few weeks.
Prettied up the tail pipes...
New park lights from Gbodyparts...
Replaced header panel and repaired the crack it had on the bumper cover and added stripes to it...
