Looking for a Hurst

Looking for a Hurst
Been looking around here for a while now seeing what's up in the Olds world. Had a '74 Hurst W-30 back in the early 80's and I'm looking for another now.
The one I had got t-boned and was totaled bu the ins Co. I let it go for i thing around $1200 at the time. If i only new at the time what I had. So I know for sure that there is one less W-30 out there for me to buy.
So if anyone has any leads on a 73-75 Hurst W-30 I would appreciate it.
Lots of great info here and looking foreward on learning lots more.
Thanks Ron

Thanks but thats the same one I saw a couple of weeks ago. It didn't meet the reserve. I am looking for a W-30 anyway. There is a nice '74 W-25 I've been watching on Miami craigslist. By what the guy said it's all original with 74K miles. If it was a W-30 it would already be in my garage.

is that a good price for that car? I don't see these cars for sale often and it seems like very few remain. Seem like an under appreciated car and one day could be worth something, if not at least they are getting cooler and cooler the older i get.
#14
not sure if you have gotten your car but there is a pair of H/O's in the for sale section, one being a w-25 and one being a w-30.

Chris, I took the liberty of cutting the humble opinions out of your post and reprinting the possibly factual parts.
H/O s aren't for everyone. I'd say 73-74s have the draw back of the padded vinyl tops and the 75 has the negatives of the Hurst Hatch tops and crumbly rear sail panels, otherwise they are great cars that are extremely reliable. I don't agree with anything you wrote.

day that was a very strong street cruiser.
I probably would have kept it if it hadn't been so rusty.
I think the 73-74's are under appriciated, period.

Agreed. Besides, with only 380 1974 W30 produced they are the rarest Hurst/Olds of them all and have the Pace Car distinction.
But I have a 1974 Y77 so I'm a little biased anyway. I'd have rather had the W30 but good ones have been few and far between for 25+ years now.

Yeah I agree with ya, been looking for a '74 W-30 for about a year and a half now. No luck so far just a few junk yard rust buckets. I did find a '73
W-30 here in Houston but at 22k he's a bit too proud of it. It's nice but still needs about another 4 to 5k to make it a 1 or a 2. Some of the things it needs you can't find either.
I've seen a bunch of the W-25's for sale so maybe I'll have to settle on one of those.
Well the search continues.

Oh Andy. Once again spouting off about something you don't know anything about. Stick to your polishing or your imaginary 69 and 72 H/O.

If you do find a 74 W30 thats not a rust bucket then you better be prepared to pay a pretty penny for it. Even if it needs a complete resto or not the colors you want. With only 380 made in the first place and quite a few dissapearing every year, pickens are slim. Good luck.

My 2 cents.
You are entitled to your opinion....even though you are wrong.

Thanks for saying that about the 73 W-30 H/O's.
That sob I had would absolutly Haul ***! Period! Lol.
The only thing I would change about a 73, and I am
sure some would disagree, would be... I really, really
liked the taillight lenses on the 74's. Only year with
that sweet rocket right in the middle.
I robbed my college acct. at 15 and bought a
74 442, buckets and console. Loved that car.
Was the old man pissed? Uhh....yeah to say the least.
