Anyone seen one of these?
Anyone seen one of these?
So i was on a cruise and a gentleman there was talking about how he had a dealer promo model of the 69 H/O. Beyond my belief this gentleman had given me the car.... I was shocked beyond belief that he would give me one of his prized pieces in his collection, his wife on the other hand was happy cause it was one less thing she had to dust
. This was in a Corvette dealers office (i guess that is why it has the vette flags on this.
Questions about this are: How rare are these?
Has anyone seen one?
What would something like this be worth (so i know whether to actually put it on my desk at work or not)
Why would it say '69 Chevrolet underneath?

I had a couple of them, and still may have one... My son got a hold of them and drag raced them... They were available back in the 1990's at your local toy store. I see them for sale on ebay and at flea markets. However, that is a nice score!
Here is a new one http://www.ebay.com/itm/69-HURST-OLD...item19d1bb5268

I have one - it's the closest I will get to a real 69 h/o I figure! I've had it in my office at home on my desk for probably 10 years. I don't have the packaging or stand anyore but I would part with it if someone did want it...

I think that is some type of reproduction and not a true dealer promo from 1969. Most of the dealer promos from this era were 1:24 scale and made by Johan, a model company. I have been collecting promos over the years and have never seen or heard of a true dealer 69 Hurst promo car.
As for the 69 Chevrolet on the bottom, maybe the toy supplier chassis from a 69 Chevrolet would interchange with the Hurst.
My ERTL 69 H/O has a different front license plate than the one pictured. Cool model!!!!!!!

Looks like the ERTL diecast- I think they were the only ones that did the 69 Hurst. The same chassis was probably used on some of the other diecasts they did, is why it has Chevrolet molded in.
Don't sweat those details, Tommy- the fact that the gentleman thought enough of you to give it to you says a lot.
Only thing about diecasts is they tend to accumulate and they take up more space than you'd think. I got into Danbury Mints because they had all the early 60s Thunderbirds and a couple of Studebakers. And every time I said no more high-dollar diecasts, they'd come up with something else.

It's not an Ertl, or from the '60s. I remember seeing one just like it (chevy labeled case bit and all) at least 10 years ago at a swap meet. While I've picked up examples of most all of the types of 69 H/O stuff I've seen, I passed on this one due to the Chevy labeling and already having multiple Ertls (and other smaller scale examples).
Mostly all promos I've seen or owned from that time are plastic, not metal. I have a case...I think 4 or 6 car lot of 69 442's I bought about 10 or 15 years ago. They have a similar Chev blooper, Like the box says SS396 Chevrolet but the pics on the box and cars inside are 442's. I'm away or I would check, but it was something weird like that!
I'm getting a little off subject here but anyone know where I can get a 1:18 67 442 in crystal blue? I have dark blue & gold. I passed on one a couple years ago because I was spending $ on real parts. Now I can't find one anywhere!
Bottom left of the underside has the company symbol tag. I will take a pic of it closer and post it.
As for the history that i have received on this car; The gentleman i got this car off of new a car dealer (corvette from i know) and it sat on his shelf for years and he kept bugging him to sell it. After a couple hundred bugs about the H/O sitting there ( only Olds on the shelf, the rest were vettes) the dealer gave it to him. It sat on his shelf for years and last year i met him and he was teling me about the model. I drove the Caprice for that cruise do to the Olds being down. This year he got to see the car and thought long and hard about it and gave it to me. As far as i am concerned this is a dealer promo item according to the story and it seems to be pretty rare none the less. No gator it is not going anywhere lol. If i were to sell the car i would give the car back to the gentleman i got it from or keep it for myself as a memo of all the great times i will have in my H/O.
Thanks for all the help on this guys and appreciate anything else about this. Please also note that this one has the 68 H/O air cleaner intake on the bottom as well lol.
And on another side note: Did they make a Rallye model (1:18 scale)

1/24 scale doesn't take up NEAR as much room in the house as 1/18 or 1/12.

That is pretty cool. Bidding on a 70 rallye 350 model (1:18). Those ones go for way too much but i hope i get it.
Did buy one of these to go right between the 2 when i FINALLY get a rallye

Nice. I got a nice story about that one.... This was the first Christmas with the GF and i kept telling her i got her nothing for the holidays, well Christmas morning came around and she had nothing under the tree except one present. The present was the box to the tree ornament but inside was just packing paper. So i helped her figure out that she needed to look at the ornament. Underneath it was a key, She thought it was the key to the Hurst and i was giving it to her LMBO. I told her no and go try it out and it was to the trunk where i hid all her presents LOL. She was still not happy with me though

I am not sure but my thing is if you dont want to get rid of it why not open it and play with it lol. I have a vast collection of action figures (not dolls lol) and i have opened almost all of them so i can display them the way i like to.
