Demmer #415 here. Back in the summer of 20 I bought from Fusick the correct OAI hoses. For as long as I have owned the car (I bought the car in 1993) - black plastic dryer vent hose was used.
A friend that owned the car from 2003 to 2010 put the missing OAI scoops on - not sure where he got them from, but they are reproductions.
He kept using the old dryer hose.
I tried to put the correct (fabric) hoses on and - it seems that the hoses are about 1/4" too small.
The OD of the scoop outlet is 4". The ID of the hoses seems to be about 3 3/4" or 3 7/8". Try as I might - I could not get the hoses around the outlets of the scoops.
Is this installer error or should the hoses slide on with relative ease?
Even getting the hoses onto the air cleaner was tough.

 

You have repro ducts and repro hoses, dimension control and stackup might be an issue. Although we can probably get you OEM diameters of various components, the ducts either need shaved or hoses stretched. You might be able to get a large piece of drain pipe and build it up like a tapered candle, put the hoses in the sun, and gradually push the taper in to stretch it.

No go. My wife had the idea of taking the old dryer type hose and using a part of that as an adapter.
That's what I'm going to do.
This is not a show car - just trying to correct some flaws that I have never gotten to over the years.
I spent hours just trying to re-attach the left eyebrow molding! At least that is now properly installed.
Will be taking the car to the Pure Stock Drags, so my goals are more function over form.

 

FWIW, a few years ago I purchased the whole '68 OAI "kit" from TPP or Fusick's (can't remember exactly) and installed it. I was able to get the hoses onto the scoops and air cleaner snorkels OK (they were a tight fit), but my biggest problem was getting the clamps over that. The screws that came w/ the clamps were too short and I had to use longer screws to get them to close and clamp onto the hoses.

 

Problem resolved! I removed the battery and compressed the hoses and was able to slide the hose on the driver's side scoop.
On the passenger side, using cheap vice grips, I was able to get the hose on the scoop outlet. It wasn't easy and I would not do the same for a point-judged restoration.
The clamps for the hoses on the scoops - I had to thread the screw fully through the part that is closest to the screw head, and was just barely able to tighten the clamp around the hose and scoop outlet.
Functional was the goal - the hoses are on!
Next is to somehow cut a replacement console that a friend had for a Hurst Hemi Dart/Barracuda - he gave it to me for free.
The contour for the floor is different.
My original is VERY brittle - but I might just fix it with black duct tape and reuse.
Then remove the back seat - have to re-secure the vinyl portion at the front of the rear package tray.
It just flops in the wind when driving - looks very cheap.

 

Good luck on your next project. I bet you will figure it out. Cheap is very good, wish I could get a couple deals like that on stuff I need for my project. My brother in law just got a complete pool pump and filter set up including a heater for free! I know it is off topic but that stuff runs thousands of dollars new.
