OK, I'm not on Facebook and I can't transfer the ad but the white over red 74 Salon is back on the market for $37k. Hurst decals (no shifter), lots of custom painted signage, and a supposed 1 of 4 pedigree. I vaguely remember this car getting completely discredited when Gateway was trying to sell it.
This is not a 442 or a clone 442!! This is an Executive built car to promote the Indy 500 in 1974. There was only 4 cars built and only one that had the "J" code (Salon) and this is it. It has the W-30 option, 455 engine, 4 bbl, dual exhaust. The car is 90% original with perfect paint and interior. Every option available has been added to this vehicle. It was undercoated at the plant when built and there is zero rust or damage. I have the original window sticker and build sheet along with a binder of information related to the car. Of all the options, the clock works sometimes, the air needs freon, and the 8 track does not work. Feel free to call with any questions or to see the car.
For those interested in how to verify a real 1974 H/O, here's the link to the spotter's guide on the H/O Club of America website.
As for the numbers and types built:
1800 Cutlass coupes were built, 1420 had a 350 engine and 380 had a 455 W30 engine. Of these 1800, 46 were used at the Indy 500 festivities, 31-350’s and 15-455’s. In addition, these were also built for Indy Festival duties: 42) Delta 88 H/O convertibles; 1) Cutlass 4-door for use by Tony Hulman, President of IMS; 3) Official Pace Cars (one was a replacement because of an accident); and 6) Custom Cruiser H/O Station wagons for use by the press, official photographer, medical director and day care personnel.
Note that none of the other cars built was a Cutlass Supreme.
And for completeness, compare these decals to the ones on the car above.
Many years ago the owner contacted me with that car. I tried to explain to him politely that it was not a 1974 H/O Pace Car.... he wasn't buying it. i did tell him he might have Y74 'Regional' car by some emblems he had on the car as shown below, but he thought they circled back to it being a pace car....

There was also talk that maybe a local Indy "Dealer" put it together for some kind of promo use....As Joe pointed out earlier, the 'decals' are not correct, trunk stripe, etc...
If a dealer put it together they would of had the correct striping at the time and the decals on the car do not show that.
FYI.... The example pic of the 1974 H/O Joe showed happens to be a pic of my car...
Cars, like guns, grilling, and the rules of baseball, basketball, football, and golf, are all "expected knowledge" of men in the USA, so it seems that it is "unmacho" to not know something, and much BS results due to the need to appear knowledgeable.
