Jusrushem how are you ?
Interesting you worry about this with your baby, is it because of the Ethanol ?
As I understand it Ethanol was allowed to be added to US gas since the late 70s, so a stock 83 Hurst Olds driven since has been acclimated. The up to 10% blend has been in place since 1978. Although it didn't fully kick in till years later. Interestingly to me I've always figured modern gas was crap. But didn't realise the EPA technically regards modern gas as Gasohol not Gasoline.
Or is it just general preventative maintenance on your part ?

yes true. But car was owned in texas and they used ethanol gas. Now it's here in the 808 there aren't many non ethanol stations here. I know ethanol eats up hoses and im just trying to get all the gunk out of the system. Car still emits black smoke but it's gotten way better since I used the additive and found non ethanol. Just want to keep my baby going strong. Mahalo for all yojr input. Appreciate your support.

go to pure-gas.com in HI you have some ethanol free stations
https://www.pure-gas.org/
Also I run Stabil 360 Marine additive as my car sits quite a bit keeps your gas tank moisture free,,
Also replace all your rubber fuel lines with EPDM(Viton) type fuel hose also the carb should be rebuilt with this type of rubber gaskets Cliff's High performance has the correct type rebuild kits..

Just have to replace the pieces that corrode or may corrode when necessary. Knock on wood, but I've had the 69 for going on 11 years. When I got her she had fuel line issues here and there. Had them replaced with the appropriate modern replacement. So far so good. Maybe that was caused by ethanol or maybe it was natural corrosion from age etc... or both. Either way wear and tear will happen. 10 years is a lifetime for our cars but my car is light use, so only 40,000 miles in that time. But time still marches on.
As far as being able to consistently fuel up with E0 that can be challenging. We are down to about 10% of US gas stations that carry ethanol free gas. And I suspect that number will keep dwindling. If you are lucky to have a E0 station near you great. In my case the nearest to me that I know of is 60 miles away. So that's not an option for me.
"Red Line 60103 SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner, Cleans and Prevents Corrosion in Fuel", sounds good. I am a believer in the local auto store snake oils. But I've never tried it.
Exactly.

Mahalo for your support
As stated, your engine is designed to run on 87 octane (ethanol or not) with its ultra low, 80s era, emissions friendly 8.1:1 compression ratio.
If you're going to use VP, get the leaded version with the purple label. I buy it by the case on Amazon.
I have found Seafoam to be the best cleaner and stabilizer for pump fuel, hands down.
Ethanol free pump gas is a feel good measure. I highly doubt you can verify any differences.

Small flaw in your logic: how do you know the difference is due to the ethanol?
Anyway thank you very much for everyone's support. Don't want to make anyone annoyed. Appreciate all the support. Just glad to own a hurst and have people willing to share their wisdom on how to take care of things.

the leaded fuel additive will not make the catalytic converter and O2 sensors happy!!
