Auction prices are always crazy high, its almost like a competition among the wealthy on who can pay the most for a car that isn't worth the money... Auction workers even clap and congratulate the buyer at hammer down sold! Auction prices are surely out of my league...
Please don't get me wrong here. I'm just saying the AIR CLEANER BASE is completely wrong as well as the VALVE COVERS.MASTER CYLINDER & HOLD-OFF VALVE., INTAKE MANIFOLD, POA VALVE, REAR HALF OF ALTERNATOR DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE FINNED. JUST SAYING!!!
^^^THIS. The Chinesium valve covers are what did it for me. Once again, people with way more money than brains.

I know mine was not there, lol.
and again I ask where is the documentation for only 175 AC cars….
How can a documented HO registry car show no documentation in the pics and no axle code to differentiate the HO axle from standard 442 axle, no OH trans tag along with vin pics for verification…I really hope the buyer was on site and verified all the stuff…then again…our country grows on the fools that just buy the “magic” because I say so product…
The 69 ho. Was my favorite.
I grew up with a die cast one.
I saved money and found one under a tarp thats sat for 30 years in 2006.
they wanted 35k....im like screw that....
I got my car...70w30 for 25k...spent 20k on it....aswell as I would have the Hurst.
it.i lost many nights of sleep dreaming of the Hurst. I still feel it's 100% than a w30....but there's no love for any Hurst it seems.
The guy that did my paint.
He has some camaro pace cars.....those get coin.....

Good eye. There's a lot of things nit-picky, piddly things "wrong" that's easy to see. It's unfortunate someone just HAD to pay through the nose for this car that should be in better, and more correct, shape for the price. JMO.
One thing I noticed besides what already was mentioned was it has an electro-mechanical TVS on the front corner of the intake. 69's had mechanical only. So thinking the engine or at least the intake is from a later model.
The glovebox emblem, believe it or not, does look original. I've looked at a billion of those over the years and there's always something "wrong" with the aftermarket ones. Even the ones I had reproduced. The original ones could be best described as double-sided tape of sorts. There's a thin clear plastic outer layer that the decal was stuck to, or vice-versa. Then the "emblem" was applied to the glovebox door. If you ever removed it, the emblem was done. Looks like they couldn't afford genuine GM door sill plates either and got knock-offs. No fisher emblem in the center.
They also forgot the little rocket on the door panels that all 69 442's had. Along with what appears to be cheaply made/installed (circle one or more) interior vinyl on the door/quarters and seats. The rear quarter side panel has a ton of wrinkles in it!! Is it me or in one of the pics the driver inner door handle bent or detached? It appears the shifter is correct as well as the top plate (save for what appears to be the wrong grain decal- this can be fixed). The console is definitely aftermarket because if it was original, there would be a 99% chance there would be diagonal cracks in the back corners away from the top plate.
The 4WD look is likely from either wrong springs up front or they're not seated properly in the spring perches. Just a guess. But dayumm! I did look for a front gear set under there at first. As far as fixable, the paint scheme has a lot of work needed as well. Hood stripe in the valley is too narrow, no flat black in the scoop inlets, scoop decals too far back, something seems "off" on the side top stripes, maybe too thin. Again, can be fixed with new paint and a new body guy to get the lumps out of the bottom of the car, but still. I wouldn't be too critical about the car normally, but the selling price to the new owner is way too friggin' high to warrant it. New owner's fault though. Shouldn't have bid that high. So there's that. Plus, we're still unsure about the body tag, VIN plate, transmission, and rear end.
The little video showing the car at auction site appears to have the Hurst number dash tag applied and someone tried fixing the wrinkled interior panel but not very well, but the other pictures don't show this. WTF?

Joe Spagnoli's went for $96,250.
for sure these basic items along with wrong tag on oil fill tube, wrong intake…no AC vacuum canister on firewall, wrong top plate on shifter….
