84 registry
The body cowl plate under the driver wiper arm should have a letter/number/letter coding in the upper left hand corner. Something like E11D, E02C, etc. It should start with an E for the year code 1984. the next two can tell you the month/week your car was scheduled to be built. Example- the E02C would be E= 84 model year, 02 = February, C = 3rd week. November 17, 1983 to March 10, 1984 was the 84 H/O production run. That's the best you can do at the moment. You can get a general ballpark guesstimate of your number "zone" by finding the build week.
If your car is original and has the small horn button like the 83s, and the single alternator belt directly to the water pump pulley, it's a very early car built before the third week of December, best that's been able to be determined. After that, the 84 used the dual ps pump pulley and wrapped the alternator belt around to include the crank and power steering pump pulley as well. Then either the last week of December or the first week or so of January (don't have a VIN break as of yet), the horn button went to the larger style with the silver outer ring.
You'll need to contact Judy Badgley at djbadgley@gmail.com and she should be able to give you specific build number info. Normally I'd say visit www.83-84hurstregistry.com to submit your VIN there but it seems the home page is out of order. Or it is for me.
Good luck.
