68 H/O on ebay value

I was considering this car and wanted to get a few opinions as to a fair market value in today's market. Seems like a nice guy and car is all original with one repaint. What do you guys think?

That looks to be a great car but I wouldn't even want to offer a guess to the value these days. Mecum has a comp from Jan 2011 for $68K.

This car is non a/c, and not a post car, so why does the dash not have the center vent with the non functioning block off, nor the driver/passenger vents? Isn't that dash just on a bare bones F85?

Al Denicola has a 68 with the same dash and white buckets. Was a one off
documented car that went to CA

I might be wrong but I thought in 68 they have vent windows so the dash did not get the vents unless it was an ac car. I'm shure somebody that knows more will chime in

Had a 68 Cutlass conv, non AC car and it did NOT have the provisions in the dash pad for AC. I am thinking that is a later or 69 dash that had the blackouts which made it easier to install AC later and a second dash pad would not have to be manufactured by GM as one would fit all...

That is the correct dash for a non-AC '68 A-body. No question. Starting in '69 (when the wing-windows went away), they also used the "AC" dash pad for the non-AC cars (except for post cars I think).

Hmmm...
Wonder why it has notched valve covers with no A/C.

Maybe not the right spot, but .....

I've been looking for a set of chrome valve covers to replace the finned aluminum ones on my '67 W30 - notched or no-notch? Factory press release pics of the "RED BARON" show notched & chrome, which shouldn't exist if the notched valve covewrs were A/C only. So, what's the deal - When & Where were notched valve covers used from the factory?

I think if he was serious about selling it the car should just have been listed with his buy it now or 'make an offer'. Instead it's listed as a starting bid of 35K and hasn't even met reserve at 45K. The market is telling him something...... He says recently a 68 HO was offered on ebay at 89K. Offered is different from bought.

I think it's a gorgeous car. Whoever buys it will probably have to fork over their first born child from the sounds of it. How much were you thinking of offering? Its probably worth the money, but I don't have it.

. There ya go, I am thinking of my own '69 non a/c with the vents on the sides, and the "fake" vent in the middle. There was also a white '69 W car with a red interior for sale a couple years ago that was a F85, with the plain jane dash that this H/O has.

All A-body big-blocks had the notched covers in '68 (and '69 and...). In the case of '68, that would include: all 442s, all H/Os, and all Vistas with 400 engines. I'm less familiar with the pre-68 cars, but I THINK the notched covers started in '68...

I'm thinking that the blank F85 type of dash went beyond 1968. At the Olds Nats in Cincinnati there was a '70 Matador Red W31 F85 that had that ventless dash, it took it's class in judging I believe. There was also an identical (same one?) on loan to the Gilmore Car Museum in Michigan for two years that was equipped the same way.

That's "kind-a" what I thought ..... here are the pics from eBay that got me confused ..... they don't look to be dated, so that could be a 455 & taken in '70?
