Interestingly enough, page 151 of the assembly manual states the W46 has a separate p/n for the air cleaner assembly which was 6485972 up until right before start of production, changing to 6486199. The lid may be one difference between the two numbers, only Olds engineers would know for sure.

The decal that goes on the smaller lid was listed under the p/n 403612 fitting most 455 4-bbl applications and the W46 "400" (yeah, right). It's like in Jeff's pic of the original air cleaner. It was simply and Oldsmobile Rocket 455 decal. My rhetorical question is, how could it fit both applications with the same 455 decal if they weren't both 455's?

As a side note, USAPartsSupply.com was the only place I've found so far that offered the most-correct "keep your GM car all GM" housing decal, coded "OW" with the right p/n. But for some reason, I can't get to their website at the moment.

Here's a picture of mine with the USA Parts Supply decal on the housing. I bought it many moons ago. Yeah, maybe it isn't the cleanest version out there, but it's correctly coded with the right p/n, which is a lot more than I can say about many of the incorrectly coded ones on 69 H/O's I've seen at car shows.

That is a nice one, lettering and numbers pretty much nice and crisp. I've seen some, not so much H/O's but where it looks ok, but under close inspection they are just not quite, well I guess 'crisp' is as best as I can describe.
