rebuild hood hinges?

I'm having a bitch of a time getting my hood to fit. Went on a Web site that describes my problems to a T. Has anybody ever had their hood hinges rebuilt, what were the results and what did it cost? Any recommendations?

Don't know if this will help but I had a broken one on a 65 and used a bolt/ nut plug welded the nut and ground down the extra material. Worked well for me

Yea, I'm starting to think along those lines. I'm pretty sure by the time I ship them and have some guy work on them then return shipping it's probably going to be more than I want to spend. Not concorse, just a cool weekend driver.

I am sure if you looked you could get the proper rivits to use, but I am cheap.

Be very careful of the spring! Use caution

Online a site called shopdocrebuild.com list a rivet set for '68 Chevelle for $2.90. You may have to slightly weld the holes Where they are worn oblong, then drill them back to the size of the replacement rivets. Larry

So it's kinda sounding like the rivits are softer than the hinge and take the brunt of the wear?
