1970 Cutlass upper vent cable on kick panel
1970 Cutlass upper vent cable on kick panel
I just had to replace the passenger side upper vent cable in my kick panel. The installation went fairly well, and I replaced the lower vent flapper rubber while I had the kick panel off.
However, now that the new upper cable is installed I find it very hard to push in and pull out. I mean it is VERY stiff.
Prior to installation the new cable moved freely, and the upper door moved freely also.
I did have some problems putting the retaining clip on the cable, and may have installed it backwards. It was very hard to install it the way I thought it should go, and I was afraid of putting too much stress on the plastic flange of the cable. If someone could post a figure showing the correct way to install this clip I would appreciate it.
The cable is routed correctly, and the retainer that is screwed into the side of the plenum is positioned correctly.
The prior cable operated freely before it broke, and the drivers side is fine also.
Any ideas on what I could do?
Thanks.
