Smile 62 Starfire original trim confusion

Getting ready to have a new convertible top installed on my 62 Starfire and can’t decide whether to do it in white or blue. Many feel the top was blue because of the color of the frame is blue. Yet, I’m still really confused as to what my original trim order called for. I researched the trim tag and can only confirm that the paint code is C and the car was refinished in Provincial White.

The rest of the tag is confusing:

1. After the PAINT code entry ‘C’, there is a double space and then either the number 5, or the letter F.
2. The TRIM code entry is: 933-4. All of my research only shows code numbers in the 200’s or 300’s.

Questions:

1.Was the 900 series exclusive to the Starfire?

2.Does the 5 or F, or the ‘ -4 ’ refer to the color of the top? I can’t confirm anywhere in my research.

3.The last confusion on the tag occurs in the lower most right hand corner below the explanation of the acrylic paint and to the right of “ Body by Fisher”. There is the entry of the number 22. ??

I know there is the human error factor in the punching of these tags ( How much Beer was drunk at lunch ), but I really like to know what’s correct for my application.

Boy, I gotta believe your top was blue if your PNT code shows as: C F
Since F is the code for wedgewood blue and 2-tones were listed lower, upper.
If it came with a white top, wouldn't it have been listed as C C ?

My '63 Olds conv came from the factory with a blue top. Tops were available in colors other than black and white.

Dave, how is your paint code listed on the trim tag?

Copper,
I have since learned the correct way of reading my tag.
1. The paint code is 'C' followed by two + spaces and then an 'F'. In English it means the car was Provincial White ( C) and it had color coded wheelcovers in Wedgewood blue (F)

Convertible codes were included after a dash in the TRIM CODE. My example is: 933-4
933 refers to the two tones of blue in the seat leathers and the shade of blue in the carpet. The 4 refers to the color of the top. Light blue. The convertible top codes were numerical not alphabetical

Thanks for sharing this. I'm not really familiar with pre-65's and it's always good to learn something.

Your welcome.
ps. You questioned about two letters within the paint code. When there are two CONSECUTIVE codes in the PAINT code ....... example CF... The first refers to the body ( C- white ) and the second for the top ( F - blue ) . This would therefore be a two toned coupe or sedan NOT a convertible. As stated before, the convertible code is a number after the interior 3 digits. My learning moment was discovering the location of the code for the color coded wheel covers. Gotta love an Olds! www.oldsmobilesforever.com
