'71 and '72 Rear Window Defogger Red Dot

Hello,
I always see the above...but the faceplate on the dash only has a red plastic bezel (no light).
Is this suppose to have a light to let you know it's on? I just purchased one and it has a light socket assembly that illumanites the red dot!
Any input would be appreciated!
Thanks.....I have never seen one with a light, bought it tonight can't wait till it gets here, has a partial harness (3 wires) and socket for a bulb.
Thanks in advance!

IIRC the wires-in-window variant has a tell-tale night. The blower variant doesn't.

442 Rear Window Electric Grid Defogger '71-72

Did not know that! Thanks.
But the red plastic dot between the fan switch and rear defogger On / Off switch has a plastic red dot.
I have never saw one that was illuminated! I bought one tonight and can't wait to see it. I always wondered why Olds just puy a red plastic dot on the faceplate between fan switch and rear defogger switch with no light. I beleive it shuts off /on by thermal control i.e. to hot shut off and the other to cold turn on. For '71 /'72's
I have never seen one with a bulb that tells you its on.
I have a '70 442 so doesn't matter (blower motor type) , no electric grids yet ! Glue on only (kind of but) I will post a picture when it arrives.
I have never saw one with the bulb, socket, and pigtail.....
Obivously I am easily entertained....back to painting my cowl support.
I will post pic when I get it.
Mediators.....where should I post... because I feel this is rare. Please advise.
Thanks!
