Torque Converter Issue?

1966 330 w/2 speed Jetway...have to get rr's up into 2500 or so before the car will move? Any idea's out there, been sitting a while and fluid levels are good and clean!

Check modulator on the side of the trans. Make sure you have full manifold vacuum, and that it is not leaking trans fluid. When was the last time the filter was changed?

I was having similar problems with my transmission. I haven't had the courage / time to open it up and check things myself. Took it to a basic shop and they suspect the torque converter broke and put medal everywhere in my transmission and a rebuild was in order. Not sure about this. I'm going to save up and take my car eventually to another shop expecting a rebuild, but hoping for much better news.

Here is the thread describing my symptoms and what people here thought about it.
