i got the car to run after 10 years sitting..

ok i got the olds 98 to fire up today...but i have a small problem first. what king of rodchester carb is on this car its a 1962 olds 98.. and second...the carb leaks alot on the front right side of it when your stand in front of the car...its leaking out a plunger or somethin....it has a rubber groomet arround it....what is this called so that i can figure out how to stop the leak... thanks for any help...

Should be a Rochester 4GC.

My 4GC had the same problem - it's from the rubber boot getting too old and maybe exposure to ethanol in gas, etc. You can get a new carb kit at Napa and it should have the rubber plunger piece. Worth saving the rest of the kit and rebuilding the carb as well.

You won't have to remove too many screws to replace the boot itself.

thanks for the site and help.. can i just buy the boot... i have a kit for the carb already but its missing that boot... just my luck! what is the part that the boots for called?

Same thing happened to me and I had to buy another kit! The Napa kit had the boot inside and the one from Fusick didn't.

What you're playing with is the accellerator pump which adjusts your fuel flow when stepping down on the Noisy pedal or some call it the Gas Pedal
