PS pump; bare or paint?

Should the cast iron face of the pump body itself be semi gloss or bare steel?

OOPS,sorry, read it wrong, thought it said water pump. I need to learn to read for comprehension. The P/S pump face/canister is painted black as a unit.
I use GM Reconditioning Black for brackets,P/S pump,AC compressor etc.

is the recondition paint paint still available, or is that a number that was discontinued like so many others. I tried to get some a while back, the number I had saved was no good, the parts guy couldn’t find a listing.

GM doesn't sell it anymore. The Parts Place has it or you can search eBay/Google.

Here's what it looks like.

It's worth noting anything left bare cast will soon be rust colored unless you want to oil it. I have had pretty good results with clear painting flat or satin cast parts.
