75 crossover pipe

75 crossover pipe
A friend of mine, is changing the crossover pipe in his 75 cutlass 442 with 455. The old crossover is rusted out, he ordered walker crossover 42243, when he tried to put on car it would hit oil pan ( stock) before it reaches exhaust manifolds, way to short, 4 inches or better on each side. I see another pipe 42283. My question , is 42283 longer on each side then the 42243? or is there a different pipe he should use?

Joe , I looked at that diagram also, the high lighted part at top has 350 and 455! I knew that sb and bb had to be different. he told me no one would make one for him, to many bends! I told him to go 25 miles north to the big city of Fort Wayne Indiana, someone there will make him one. On a side note, this is the pipe summit told him he needed 42243 for his 455!

And Summit operators are NOT well versed in part applications. Just try to get Oldsmobile motor mounts from them!
FYI, here's an example of another Walker diagram. Note how there are two different P/Ns for the converter with application notes below them.
