Y60 Option

The build sheet of my 71 Cutlass lists it as Y60 ASSY GROUP. My book lists it as a Convenience Group. Anyone know what is included in this option?

Extra courtesy lights, trunk light, hood light, map light, lower dash controls lamps, glove box light, vanity mirror and day night mirror. Not sure what else was in it but this was most of it.

The 72 verts came std with that group!

That is the lighting option, mainly for the interior. Map light in the mirror, sail panel lights on coupes, instrument panel, courtesy, ashtray, under hood and trunk. I have it on my '71 C/S.

each one of those lamps mentioned are listed with a * beside each lamp rpo designation. *U25, *U26, *U27, etc. I was guessing the * meant it was included in another option.

thanks

Found this thread doing a search about courtesy lighting. I noticed on some '70-'71 442s there is a courtesy light on the dash in the middle, underneath. When I checked mine there is a block off plate there. I assume that was part of the optional lighting package? The only interior lights that come on with my doors are the dome light and rear console light. I have hood and trunk lighting though. I removed the plate hoping to find it wired for the lamp but nothing there but a hole.

That light was not a courtesy light, but a map light with a little switch on it. I have it on my '72, and in my opinion, it was not a very good design. Not much light, far away from the driver. The map light on the rearview is on the passenger side - I guess the passengers were the ones reading the maps.

Hey Mike - I've added that underdash map light on a few Cutlass (like the one I have now) and I've always been able to find the plug so you should have one if you want to add that light. I might even have an extra. I know I have an extra glove box light if you're interested but you'll have to get a switch that activates the light.

Cool, thanks. I did remove the 'block-off' plate but there was nothing I could reach inside (except the 'tail' of a plastic harness bundle strap). I guess it's not important enough to take the dash pad off at this point (It doesn't look as if its even been off!). If I ever have to get in there for something I'll definately add it. According to my RPO code listing from a GM brochure, all that additional lighting could be ordered individually. I do have the center dome, ashtray light, glove box light, console light (inside and at the rear outside), trunk light and underhood light. I do not have either map light(s), or kick panel lights.
What time do you plan on going Saturday?
