Windshield Wiper vacuum diagram for 1955

Are you looking for under the hood or under the dash? I don't have a diagram but I've got a pretty complete parts car. The engine has been swapped so that part may not be correct, but under the dash might. John

Both, but my primary question is about the vacuum line that works the windshield washer. My approach thus far is just replace the vacuum lines as I found them when got the car. I routed a line from the wiper control (with the center push bottom for the washer). My main question is the connection of the washer vacuum line to the engine. There is a vacuum port on the rear of the intake manifold that is plugged with a rubber cap. But the diameter of that port is larger than the vacuum line coming from the wiper/washer dash control. The replacement line I placed in is identical to the one on the car when I got it. My puzzle is, “is there a reducer connector that is attached to the vacuum line coming from the dash? Or is there something else involved.

I’m always working on something..usually not postworthy and unfortunately I only manage to cobble together a few hours a week of garage time - it’s all good..slow progress better than no progress

Thanks so much Olds Dad. That makes perfect sense. I will buy a tee tomorrow and get it going. I did as you had done replacing all the vacuum lines as they came on the car. However the line coming through the firewall was just dangling and not connected anywhere.

I'm assuming you have power brakes and if you do, the large fitting at the back of the carb goes down to the vacuum tank on the left-hand side of the frame rail. This gives vacuum to the power booster (Treadle_ Vac). If you don't have power brakes, this is capped off and not needed....Tedd
