The assembly manual shows a center hood adjustment bumper in front of the hood latch for all cars with the W25 hood. neither of my W30s came with that. See attached picture, is there a rhyme or reason to this? The one pictured came with a factory installed hood lock, but my convertible does not have that

 

It's funny you just brought this up. I put that middle bumper on my car yesterday because I saw it in the manual. I added the hood so I figured I would add that too. That's strange it is not on both your w30 cars. I wonder if anyone has it originally on theirs.

 

My 71 442 had a center hood adjustment bumper when I purchased the car. It is still there.

 

I have seen them with the bumper and without the bumper. Both of my W cars have them.
