Question Variable Vane Torque Converter Switch

Hi! My '67 Olds Cutlass Supreme has the 330 C.I. H.O. engine with the two-speed auto. tranny. The switch that activates the stator and detent solenoids is a Delco-Remy (round with three terminals). Can anybody tell me what the switching sequence is from idle to wide-open throttle? Mine is acting funky and the detent, or down-shift mode, doesn't always work. I was advised to open up the switch and clean the contacts, which I did, but the problem persists. Is the variable-vane switch supposed to come on from idle to part throttle, then come on again with the down-shift at full throttle? Or should only the down-shift occur at this point? HELP!!! Thanks, Jim
