Trunk Lock Cover Restoration

Trunk Lock Cover Restoration
I'm curious if anyone has any experience restoring trunk lock covers?
I have a whole trunk lock cover assembly well as an extra cover plate from a 1973 88 Royale. Looks like the trunk cover was black and goldish in these years. I've read that some people really like the look of the 80s trunk lock covers on these cars.
I was thinking about pulling out the plastic insert, painting the inner metal and filling it with a clear resin or a cut to size piece of acrylic
I was able to track down a replacement listing on USA Parts Supply catalog but they said they don't carry them anymore. Mentioned they used to get them from a place in New York called Marlborough.
Also been trying to find any info on spring and mounting hardware
