Trunk lid lock problem

Spoiler

I am having problems with installing my deck lid loc

The photos are of the original and new lid.The lock will NOT turn when installed fully and the screws screwed in and the retainer installed. The lock ROD is interfering with the deck lid internally and wont turn as it gets caught on the lid where the lock cylinder is very close to the sheet metal.

I have tried installing the cylinder without the rod and the lock turns fine. I can leave the lock out and use a long flat screw driver and the latch opens fine.

I have bought three lock rods and two different but externally the same cylinders.

I can see NO difference between my original deck lid and the reproduction.

Is there some trick to this?

Original deck lid (sorry it is upside down. i do not know why this forum sometimes does that)

New deck lid

That is the wrong lock rod. When installed rod goes in at a angle and puts lock in a bind. The original I believe has a dog leg in it. Straight arm will not work.

Any source for right one? I have looked and most places that show the angled one sell you the straight one instead.

I own a lock shop here in Az and just went thru the drawer and I do not have one. Soryy I thought I did. If all else fails you can heat and bend yours. It does not need to be bent in exact location but just so it is lower. If that makes sense
