Toro Vs. A Body carb differences
Have an opportunity to buy a very nice looking reman '71 Toro Quadrajet P/N 7041252. Am needing it for the 72 455 4spd vert I'm doing with 402194 cam (W-31) E big valve heads, stock intake, and a 1111982 '70 442 distributor. What are the differences between an A body carb and the Toro version, and would this carb be even close in compatibility to this cam/head/intake/dist. combo? Not looking to run in the 12's - just want something for an occasional blast down the street.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Wow - I posted a reply here earlier but it looks like it didn't take, so I'll try it again.
I am currently involved with the rebuild of a '69 Toro carb (7029252). Originally, I was going to use it for parts in rebuilding a '69 4-4-2 carb (7029251) but the body on the 51 carb was so bad (pieces broken off and missing, gas filter bolt hole reemed out so far that even a heli-coil won't fix it) that I shifted focus to keep the 52 carb.
The only difference I can see between the two are the throttle linkage assemblies (driver side). Everything on the passenger side of the two carburetors is identical, including the Rochester part numbers stamped into the pieces. Both carbs even use the same primary and secondary metering rods. The tops and base plates have the same part number. It appears to me that the bodies are exactly the same as well - the only difference being the part number stamped into them.
I don't know if this similarity extends to the '70-'72 time frame, but it is surely working for me on the '69 Toro carb I'm bringing back to life.
As far as compatability, I don't know. Hopefully there is someone else who can address that issue.
