throttle for 1965 442
throttle for 1965 442
Hi, I hope all is well.
I am putting my 65' 442 back together and I am stumped, the car is not a original restoration, rather somewhat a pro touring car. With that being said I am wanting to keep the firewall clean and free of clutter, I am not veryfond of the stock throttle set up and I am having a hard time finding a new set up that will work, Something stainless, billet, etc. Any suggestions?

I pulled a cable set up from a 86 Buick with a 307, including carb plate that has provision for late model downshift mechanism.
Made a small plate on the inside that bridged the gap over the original trench where the orig mechanical went through the firewall, and bolted the pedal plate to that. Made a template on the firewall for the funny shaped cable through hole-drilled it to shape, and for less than $10 I had a factory cable set up in my 65.
Comes out right next to my soon to be leaving regulator.
Inside, you would think the arm was made for this car.
Good luck

Lokar has a set up that should work. It's for a Chevelle but fits Olds. I asked them about it for my 66. I think the 65 is similar?

+1 for the Lokar setup....i put the the throttle pedal assembly, throttle cable, kickdown cable, and billet carb bracket on mine. i got rid of that factory monstrosity of mechanical linkage and never looked back. and yes, you can get the chevelle set and it fits perfectly on a 65. here's how mine looks:

improved throttle response tremendously, and it helped get my secondaries go all the way open, as the factory linkage was giving me difficulty doing so. however, the entire setup cost me over $300, plus an hour or two of my time to get it all installed and the cables dialed in.
