I have a complete set of the Oldsmobile Parts Department counter top parts book covering if I recall correctly 1953 - 1973 or 74, is there a need here for this? If so I will definitely bring it back with me on my next trip to California. These has all of the original part #, replacement or superceded # along with the original price, illustrated drawings for various parts like vacuum lines etc.

Parts books from the musclecar era bring high prices. The trick is the printing date of the book. The further away from the model year that the book was printed, the less useful it is. For example, there's a version of the parts book that covers 1964-1975, but it was printed in April 1983. It's pretty worthless, as most of the parts pertaining to the older cars had been dropped from the parts network and thus are not in that book. Sadly, many of the parts that are listed are superseded part numbers and still pretty worthless.
