T-44 hood lock cable mounting points

I am installing a hood lock on my car, since the original was apparently removed when it was in a front end collision and the front end was replaced. I know there are two points near the hood latch where the hood lock cable clamps are attached, but I'm not able to figure out just where they are/were. Does anyone have a picture of the two screw heads and their placement to the right of the latch? The Assembly Manual shows them, but gives no measurements or placement direction.

This is a 1971, but I'm thinking the center latch is in the same location for 70-72 so it may be the same. Someone who knows more about the 1970's can confirm or correct. But here's some photos with a tape measure next to it. Let me know if you need to see anything else. John

Very close to centered off the spring bolt

Whoops! I missed one. This shows where I was measuring off of for the outboard bolt.

I just looked at three loose core supports and they all had the holes punched in them. Maybe the OP has a reproduction core support?

I suppose anything is possible, but mine doesn’t look like a repro.... here is what I have. The one hole punched seems too far forward, doesn't it? And there should be two.... What tells me this isn't a repro is the ghost of the hood spring you can see on the left. The hood on there now is an all-fiberglass one installed after the car was hit, so the spring wasn't reinstalled. This looks like a used support, not a new replacement.

Here is a picture from my 70 Cutlass Conv. It does not have the hood lock option, It does have holes for the cable clamps. I believe it is original to the car as it is original paint except for the ram air hood. I suspect yours have been filled in or possible a 69 core support??? Not sure if the 69 core support interchanges with a 70. I would look on the underside and see if there is any evidence of the holes.

Isn’t that nuts? I sure appreciate the pics - I’ll get mine marked and drilled. I took a pic from underneath, and there’s no sign of any holes. Thanks, Shifty

Just checked a couple here (got both from an old car salvage place about an hour from Austin)......the support from a '70 442 4 spd hardtop has NO remote cable holes and the support I grabbed from a '70 Vista Cruiser HAS the two holes. Go figure.

Is this going to be like the "Z" on the broadcast card??? Maybe it's something simple like where the car was built, or production date. Was this a last-minute option added to the choices a buyer would have? Maybe early production didn't have the holes and later did. Another Olds mystery?

I double checked the assembly manual and parts catalog. The hood lock option is not a determinng factor in the selection on the core support. So who knows???? For what its worth my car is a late build, June if I recall correctly.

Thanks again, everyone. I got out the drill and had fun earlier today. Not a problem copying where the holes were and the latch installed with no issues.
