Hi there. I have a 1951 Super 88 Deluxe with a 303 V8 and a 3 spd std on the column. I need a shift bowl and related parts to fix my column , but am unable to find any NOS parts. Can anyone tell me if 1949, 1950, 1952 or 1953 columns are the same?? Hollander interchange dosent list steering columns for some reason. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Charlie, i appreciate the help. If anyone happens to know about whether a 50, or 52 column are the same , please let me know. NOS parts for Oldsmobile are really hard to locate, and i may have to use another column or swap parts .

 

There is a manufacturer in Athens, Texas that makes steering columns that are supposedly exact replicas of factory columns. I do not know the name of the company but I'm sure if you google steering columns it will pop up.

I checked out the shop in Athens Texas, it is called GARYS classic parts, but they are specialized on 64-81 muscle car parts only.

 

When you say " shift bowl " , are you refering to the " housing " group # 4.010 in the illustration ?
If so , that part only fits 1951 & 1952 and is factory part number 5664075 .

Stick shift Oldsmobiles were very rare even when new . Olds dealers pushed sales of Hydra-Matics , and stick shifts were available only on special order .

Another item you might look for is a floor shift conversion , made by a company called " Ansen ". For these "select shift " transmissions .

Yes im talking about the" housing." I have a 1951 olds parts book and shift housing number for 1951 is 5662359. The number you gave , 5664075 is listed as for 1952 in my book. How do you think that your number fits 1951?? Do you have a listing that says that ? , or, was one number superseded to the other? I hope your right as i know where i can get a 5664075 NOS right now!!. Maybe you have a newer parts catalog and the number was superseded to the other ??? Can you let me know Charlie. Thanks.

Yes , that's exactly what I have . I have a 1963 catalog .
Evidently , Olds felt that the 1952 part would fit the 1951 models . ( maybe an improved part ? )

Oh great!!, thats awesome, i will order it tonite. Still need a few more pieces, the seat and anti rattle spring for the lever but finding the correct housing is a huge win. Thanks again .

 

Would anyone happen to know where i might find a couple of NOS parts for my olds steering column?. Numbers are 561361, and 561362, a shift lever seat and antirattle spring. ..
