I've got a 66 442, 400 4 speed. How on earth do you get the starter off. I"ve taken the clutch linkage off, and the exhaust is off the car. The starter does not have any room to back out of the bellhousing before hitting the front crossmember frame. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

Remove the motor mount bolt on that side, and the trans mount bolts on the crossmember.
Jack that side of the motor up accordingly, and I'd put something in there, for safety, from the front, and WALA, enough room!
Be careful!
