starfire engine in my 66 442

Someone please help! I've been led to believe that the "W" stamped before the engine no. on my right side head means that i have a 425 starfire engine in my 66 cutlass 442 convertible. Could this be true? If it is, would anyone have any idea of its rarity? I,m excited over this, and would really appreciate any feedback. By the way, i've just registered to this site today. jpaden

W signifies a 330 head. V is a 442 head and N is a Starfire 4v Head.

what is the large letter or number on the head left of #1 spark plug?

Thanks L69 What advantage would 330 heads have on a 400 engine?

None. It's prob a 330 motor. Check the casting number in the front of the motor should end in a large letter E if it's a 400 390925. And a 330 will be either 381917 or 394417

Thanks,L69,for your' info I'll check the cast. nos. and post what I find. I don't know what my partner found out,but he will get an earful! I'll post pictures as soon as I've been led thru the process by a friend.Can I post more cars than my 442? I have a few. Also,stan65cutlass,I'llcheck by the no. 1 and get back.
