Sealer/putty

Anybody recommend a material to replace this stuff? Located between kick panels and interior body duct for cowl. When I removed kick panels they were sealed behind with a **** load of this stuff much like dum dum putty but light grey in color and there had to be 1-2 lbs of it smeared in there. I'm guessing to hold drafts/moisture out?

Paul, I think I used Mortite for stuff like that on my cars. It's a non-hardening type of caulk that comes like 3M strip caulk. You used to be able to get it at Home Depot or hardware stores. Then you need it together. I don't even know if they still make it, spelling could be wrong.

Rope caulk sold under the name Mortite works. Inline Tube also sells rope caulk for sealing cowl, etc.

3M seam sealer will work but I have used dum dum just because I had it. I did the heater core on my S-10 about a year ago and that's all I used. I just took a piece and rolled it out into a thin rope.

Scrappie:
I used the 3M Strip Caulk for these close-out panels as well as the AC suitcase and other AC sealing points. Here's a pic
