repro door hinges

has anyone tried repro door hinges from fusick or opgi? would like to know if they are good quality, or better off re-bushing old hinges. have rebushed hinges before and they still seem a little on the sloppy side with after market pins and bushings.

As long as yours are not bent or missing, or severely damaged, i would rebuild your old ones. I did so with great success, just takes time. Not too hard except for stripping paint. If not doing that, it is easy!

The pin and bushings and hold-open rollers for the 72 Cutlass fit and work great. I think Fusick has those. Rebuilding yours will save you about 100 bucks per door and keep your car more original. Also, you eliminate issues with typical chinesium repros, like holes in the wrong places, etc...

+ 1 on Robs repsonse, I rebuilt my old hinges and they are very tight. I would guess if your old hinges are so worn that the pin has worn away some of the hinge hole the bushing fit would be less than precise.

I have experience with the repro door hinges for the 68-72 Cutlass cars and my suggestion to you is to rebuild your originals. The repros fit OK and I didn't have any issues aligning the doors but the detents were not quite right and didn't hold the door open like the originals. The original hinges will hold the door halfway open and fully open. The repros didn't want to do the 1/2 open thing very well. So I rebuilt the originals and installed them. If you want a good deal on a full set of repros let me know.
