Red Inner Fender Wells
Thinking of painting or replacing with new the red fender wells on my '71 w30.
Anyone done the painting? The area to the rear of the car is typ for a car with 98,000 miles. Has been beat up to the point where its ready for a paint to adhere. Was thinking of just blowing RATTLE CAN on it or brushing a house paint. ANYONE TRIED ANY OF THESE ???
OR
Was thinking of replacing with new reproduction. WHAT DO U RUN INTO WITH THE NEW ????
In a few months i am going to b installing a VINTAGE AIR so the RH well has to come out anyway.
OR
Just leaving it as is and go cut the grass. There is one thing u gain if u leave it alone and that is the patina says it is a true w30

Post pictures of them. With LOTS of work you can make most originals look really good. If you have to paint there is a very specific way to do it and not look really bad. nearly 100% of the ones I have seen people paint look ridiculous but you can do it and make them look acceptable. I would pick a set of ok originals over new repops any day.

I have redone 3 sets. I used the Sems Flame Red.I learned more as a did each time. One, if you use any sand paper, use fine, and even then you may want to prime first, as sanding marks will show. You need to use Sems Prep also, and it may take 3 to 4 cleaning, need to be where no water beads. Like I said, I did my sons, and mine, and another guy I know liked them, and wanted me to do his. It takes time, but a lot nice than faded ones.

I have done a 70 W-30 and a 71 W-30 red wells in repo. They need some cutting where they bolt to fenders but work out great and look great. Always keep your old ones if you sell the car they might want them.
