Power window switch

I have a finicky master power window switch that came with the AutoCity classic kit I bought a few years ago. I bought a replacement switch at the swap meet in Tennessee yesterday. The switch was in a row of bins full of A body stuff, so I assumed it was A body. First mistake.

The replacement switch has on extra pin that my original switch doesn’t have. That one pin is longer that the others. The replacement switch is slightly larger, and has square corners. Is this a B,C or E body switch?

Original A body switch in the front, mystery switch in the rear

A body switch at the bottom. See the additional pin in the top switch? There is a hole in the A body switch where the pin would go on the mystery part.

I left a message with the seller, I’m hoping to hear back soon. Hopefully I can get this straightened out. Anyone know what the mystery switch fits?

The square corners are 1971-up. The long pin passes all the way through the connector and a plastic retainer (like a press nut) gets pushed over it to help retain the connector.

As per Joes' comments. I performed a R&R of my '71 CS convertible 4-way switch w/ a NOS switch - it contained the long pin connector.

Just something to possibly consider is your actual wire harness to the switch. For YEARS (1987-2016!) I had trouble with the driver door power window switch on my '69 4-4-2. Everything worked except that the driver door window was erratic - sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I thought it was a bad switch until I got into the wire harness one day when I was putting the interior together in 2016 and discovered one wire in the harness that wasn't locked into its place on the piece that goes onto the back of the power window switch. The little tab that is supposed to hold that one wire in place was pushed down so it wouldn't stay where it was supposed to be and only sometimes making contact with the switch. I bent the tab back up, locked it in place and the original switch has been working perfectly ever since then. Just something to possibly investigate.

It’s definitely a switch. For the last few weeks I have been driving around with the switch hanging out of the door panel. That way I can jumper the wires to get it to go up.

I talked to the seller today, when he gets back home he is suppose to get back with me on getting the proper switch.

I don’t have a wiring diagram for the later A body cars, what does the extra pin do? Is it just a place for the locking tab, or does it serve an electrical purpose?

There is no electrical purpose to the long pin.
