Post door parts retrofit?

Do the post door parts boldt/weld/screw onto a "normal" door for a 71-72 Cutlass? What about the B-pillar?

I DD my Supreme and would like post doors for less wind noise.

Not gonna happen.

The parts are welded onto the doors. The doors are different, the roof rails on the body are different, the quarter window frames are different (and welded in place), the glass is different, the regulators are different, the weatherstrip is different.

It IS physically possible to turn a Holiday Coupe fastback (xx87 body) into a Sport Coupe (xx77 body), because the external sheet metal is the same. A Supreme Holiday Coupe (4257 body) cannot be converted, because a "post" version of this car was never built. You can't physically get the quarter panel and window parts you would need - they don't exist.

Cheers, nice to get cleared up.

Well, then I guess I'll have to find a nice xx77 body, then. Is that hard?

If the weatherstrip is in good shape and the windows are properly adjusted, there should be no wind noise. Your least expensive option is to properly fix the car you have.

Weatherstrip is unknown aftermarket (but not cracked, hardened or missing at all) and the door hinges are shot, making adjustment difficult. So maybe hinges and then window adjustment, I think.

The new body would be part of a bigger project. Next car, not going to happen right now. But I have ideas.

The correct process (in order) is:

1. Repair hinges
2. Align doors (with glass, latch, and weatherstrip removed)
3. Install and align latches
4. Install weatherstrip
5. Install and align rear quarter glass
6. Install and align door glass

I did it backwards when I did the car. Maybe that's the problem.

Anyway, this'll happen while the engine swap commences and the fenders are off.

Thanks.
