Need experts' help on 68 Big Car mirrors

I have a guy seeking RH mirror for '68 Big Car - 88 or 98

I ordered a mirror thru epay before I was told that it was a BIG CAR.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/140472257260...84.m1439.l2649

Seller wants to know what side and what yr range to send

AHA

I vaguely recall seeing yrs ago that the base to stalk angle which prevents interchange between 68-9 vs 70-72 *Cutlass* families of mirrors, might allow the 70-72 CUTLASS mirror to fit OK on the 68-9 BIG CAR door, due to similar body panel angle at that point.

Can anyone verify this?

68-9 BIG CAR <==> 70-72 Cutlass Mirror interchange, close enough to fit and work OK?

Thanks!

Chris, parts book shows the interchange is 70-72 Cutlass and 68-70 Toronado are the same, p/n 230550 LH 400543 RH. It indicates 68-69 A/B/C car uses the same mirror, p/n 231265 LH 400542 RH.

Based on that I'll say a 70-72 A-body mirror will not sit right on a 1968 88 or Ninety Eight.

From: Too close to Toronto!!
'68 & '69 Cutlass have a dip in the door ledge and the '70's do not, so the bottom of the later mirror has a flat base where it would sit on the paint, whereas the '68 & '69 mirror base has an arc to it so it would sit on the ends of the base on a flat surface...seems to me that I took a right hand mirror off a '68 big car and used it on my '68 442.

Awesome, that tells me I need only order the '68 A-B-C mirror for the '68 Big Car.

THANKS

I should have thought of looking in the PN manual
