Interior A pillar covers

On a 71 Supreme would those covers be painted metal or vinyl wrapped metal? Thanks,

Painted metal. The 1968-69 had wrapped vinyl on them.

Hardtop would be painted metal, convertible would be vinyl wrapped foam.

I owned a '71 Cutlass Supreme convertible in high school and it had metal covers on the A-pillars

Maybe they changed in 71. My 70 convertible has padded A pillar covers.

Well the ones I bought look like there for a hard top, there’s a short extension at the top that looks like it connects to a piece of roof line trim. I’ll probably keep the padded repo’s.

woodie:
Post a pic or two of your A-pillar pads and tell us where you bought them for the benefit of others looking for replacements.

For what it's worth, I bought a set of the molded reproductions for my '69 convertible several years ago. They were horrible - or rather, nothing like the originals. As stated above, the originals are molded foam with a vinyl covering. the reproductions were like a molded rubber. All one single piece. I guess if you were desperate or didn't know any better they'd work but not for a restoration. I sent them back and shot mine with SEM black.
Hopefully they've gotten better.
