hood hinge color on a 70 cutlass
hi i just had a used pair of hood hinges sand blasted and i want 2 get them powder coated a color close 2 original, what is the original color of 1970 cutlass hood hinges, thanks

They aren't painted, they have a gray-oxide treatment.
Sort of a gray-oxide color.
The common thing to do is blast them then apply a few coats of clear applied dry and they'll look real close to the the original finish.

I took the hood hinges on my '68, removed the springs, blasted everything and painted the hinges cast iron grey. They look pretty close to original. The springs were slightly different. I noticed in pictures (all black and white) out of the chassis service manual that the springs appear "brighter" than the hinges. So, after blasting the springs, I painted them a "stainless steel" color. I'm still not sure to this day if the appearance is truly like the original look, but they do look like the black and white pictures in the service manual.
