Help With Cowl Tag decoding 1968 Cutlass S

Hello,

I was hoping that someone might be able to help me decode my Cowl Tag so I can figure out what my car is and what the orginal paint codes and such are and if there are any factory options. I'd like to restore it. This is what I found on the tag. Thank you for any help.

You sure B80 is part of the C08? Chrome drip mouldings are usually independent of a vinyl roof and are a standard feature of more deluxe models like the Cutlass S.

Additionally,
Fremont CA plant,
Fifth week of July build. This is very significant in that it may of one of last '68s produced!!!

So are those more rare the later productions? Also I noticed what you had meant about the C08 As it was B80. I believe this is a number matching car as it still has the factory two speed auto. Not sure on the gear ratio though.

I don't understand your question.
Production was over for 1968 at the end of July. Your car was was produced the 5th week of July, 1968. That week was Sunday the 28th through Weds the 31. So it was made within the last 3 days of the month, which was also the last 3 days of the model year.
Just a matter of of when it was made, nothing to do with rarity.

B80

If you order a vinyl roof (CO 8)you get the drip mouldings because they hold the material from blowing away when you travel at a high rate of speed...if you have a painted roof and you want to fancy up your ride, then you ordered B8O, bright drip rail mouldings... I cheated because I looked in the OPSI (Oldsmobile Product Selling Information) book on page 106. 1968 of course...
