Fuel tank mat?

Does anyone use anything between the fuel tank and the bottom of the trunk?
Like a thin sheet of rubber?

Yes, certain years and plants installed a mat between them. Patton Glade (70Post), here on C.O. sells a great version at a great price. See this thread. I've got one from Patton on my '68.

What about using a thin coat of bed liner on the tank and the bottom of the trunk ? It would protect the steel tank and trunk floor.

I have a Lansing built 65 and never had a mat installed between the floor and the tank, and then I had a 67 that had one, wondered what determined what got one or not?

I fold a piece of black roofing tarpaper/underlayment in half and put that between tank and trunk floor.
